About This Course
Every NGS analysis, from RNA-seq to variant calling, starts with understanding the raw data. This course explains how sequencing works and how to judge whether your data is good enough to analyse.
You learn sequencing technologies and library preparation, read FASTQ files and Phred quality scores, run FastQC and MultiQC, trim adapters and low-quality bases with fastp, and write a clear QC report.
Who this course is for
- Students starting any NGS-based project
- Researchers who receive sequencing data from a core facility
- Learners preparing for RNA-seq, WGS, WES or epigenomics courses
Prerequisites
Basic molecular biology and the Linux command line (or our Linux course).
Final project
Run quality control on a small public dataset before and after trimming and write a QC report with clear recommendations.
